Well, wouldn’t you know. My grandkids are here, Skip called us all over to outside the compost center and there they were, 5 new guinea babies hatched in the last 24 hours. In twelve years I have never had two families hatch babies in one year, the wonders of Wisconsin.  What fun for the grandkids. At one point Valentine the springer spaniel got a little too close to the new hatchlings. Mama guinea gave her the warning stance with feathered wings forward in the shield position. Valley did not get the hint and got the full fly over from mama guinea. Made a believer out of her and the grandkids. Valley quickly backed up, and Mama went back to tending her flock. It certainly has been extremely educational and fun this year with our community of guinea hens.
