Last weekend we had a whole group of folks visit the ranch, most brought horses. But a few of the fellows had other interests. For instance, Kurt’s contribution for the weekend besides pure relaxation and much laughter was a superb Italian dinner cooked out at their campsite. Skip and I were invited to share in their Italian Cuisine Extravaganza which we thoroughly enjoyed. Thank you to Kurt. Mark not being a horse person, brought his fishing boat. So I gave him copy of our Oconto County Wisconsin Discovery Guide which highlights all of the 58 lakes in Oconto County; and the type of fish they contain; and whether there is a public boat landing. After some discussion, Mark decided he would try Wheeler Lake, outside of Lakewood, Wisconsin.

Wheeler Lake has easy accessibility off of County HWY F heading southeast out of Lakewood, Wisconsin. It is a 293 acre lake with a maximum depth of 35 feet. The lake is home to Northern Pike, Walleye, Bass, and Panfish. Mark was quite satisfied, had great fun catching Bluegill which he brought back and cleaned to take home. He also had fun catching and releasing many Bass. I asked him what he thought about his experience, he said he would definitely consider coming back even if it was to fish for the day and go home.
