The National Forest Service in the Chequamegon-Nicolet National Forest ask that you not move firewood. Forest pests and diseases move to new locations on firewood. Some hide beneath the bark, others attach to the surface. Changing the way you use firewood will help keep harmful insects and diseases out of  Wisconsin forests and parks. Of particular concern at this time is the Emerald Ash Borer Bug. In Michigan and surrounding areas, emerald ash borer has killed millions of trees in urban and forest settings. The forest service is trying to keep wood from being transported through the forest more than 25 miles.

Please buy it where you burn it to help keep unwanted pests from the national forest. For more information go to www.dnr.wi.gov/invasives.  Thanks.
